Bioalpha’s 4th factory to begin operations next month

PETALING JAYA: Health supplements producer Bioalpha Holdings Bhd’s fourth manufacturing plant in Kampar, Indonesia is slated to begin operations next month.

The Bangi-based Bioalpha said in a statement that the opening of the plant would boost the company’s sales in Indonesia, currently the company’s largest market.

Managing director William Hon said sales from the region were projected to continue to grow in double-digit pace with the new plant up and running in early September.

“This is achievable. After all, we did RM14.4mil sales with just less than 10 products.

“Going forward, we plant to introduce an additional 12 new products in Indonesia,” said Hon in the statement, adding that plant operations would begin with two production lines. The Ace Market-listed company had earlier said that the entry into Indonesia was a strategic move to market its products there within a a short period.

Indonesia contributed RM14.4mil or approximately half of the company’s turnover for financial year ended Dec 31, 2015. This was achieved on the back of less than 10 product offerings, the company said.

“The initial two production lines are just phase one.

“The management expects the utilisation rate to hit the optimal level within 12 months, after which phase two shall kick in and two more lines will be added,” said Hon, adding that products from the Kampar plant would cater for the Indonesian market.
